I find this DVD a bit frustrating. First, I've done a few quilts (I'm a beginner) and have never seen directions about "cutting the width of the fabric", then "subcutting." I'm still not sure about this. Why not just say cut 2 strips 2 inches by 12 1/2???

I also didn't see why she didn't use a walking foot. My machine has a built in one which I use on everything except decorative stitches and my fabric didn't move at all. Perhaps that machine she was given to use and promote doesn't have one?

Also, I am working on the table topper and I found that her using white fabric for backing and for sashing and channeling was difficult to see, especially against a white colored sewing machine. I think for teaching purposes she should have used contrasting colors to be seen better.
The making of the blocks was easy and fun but seemed like a lot of wasted fabric. I used precut strips so mine were all the same width but I was more careful about using a long strip and cutting all that off.
I really want to make the French braid quilt but not feeling very confident about putting these blocks together. I watched the DVD and thought, wow, I think I'm going to have trouble. (sashing the table topper)

I generally like the instructor, have another DVD but this one I'm not that crazy about.

I too agree with Linda H, I would have used a used a walking foot and or decreased the pressure on the pressure foot. I have seen and used similar ways to join the blocks but I found this way a bit more cumbersome. I think I would have ironed the seams open on the corner stones because they are so small, but then again that is my opinion. Never the less I did enjoy this class with Nancy and learnt some new ideas. I will gladly watch another lesson with Nancy.

The class is a good value at a 50% discount. I thought she might have a new technique for joining blocks, but she didn't. I didn't like that she didn't go into more details with the baby quilt, she did a smaller version, and it didn't go very well, such as with the rick rack, she needed to place it down the blanket then figure out the joining, the way she did it, on the demo it will not lay horizontal with the borders, she need to perfect the method before she demo it. All through the videos I wanted to scream "reduce the pressure on the presser foot or use the walking foot". Also should have demo the attaching of corner stones on the purple. If I were her I would trash the baby quilt and start over, and add more information to the purple quilt.
