I was surprised how quick and easy this pattern was. The finished product was just about as nice as anything I could hope to crochet! I actually made this with a larger gauge because I'm one to worry about lengths anyway. It came right down to my knees when finished and I'm 5 feet, 5 inches. Just right. I've already started on another one in a marble black stripe color.
This is probably the easiest thing I have ever made. Talk about instant gratification! Someone gave me super bulky yarn enough to outfit an army. As other people have said it is not as long as pictured. I am making it for a friend and she is short so that is not an issue about the length. I am thinking that maybe if I crochet a strip down the back to expand the back to give more ease. I have made a ton of Danish Tie Shawls which are long and I am thinking of creating cuffs to revamp them for a different look.
As a long time avid crocheter, I would say this is a great pattern and very easy. Even a beginner could do this. I made 2 of these and my Aunt made one also. All three came out too short. The picture shows it coming down to about mid-thigh. The ones we made were beautiful, but only came down to about the hips. It fit more like a shirt in regards to length. My gauge was correct and so was my Aunts. I don't understand it. I even pulled everything out and started again. I don't know. Everybody crochets differently, I guess.
My friend Wanda and I made this in the crochet class we are taking. Mine was too small, so I took it all out and started all over again. Even ordered another skein of yarn. It is still too small. I even used a larger needle the second time. Wanda's was larger than mine but still too small for her. We love the pattern!! My cousin from GA made the first one. It was exactly the correct size as pictured. Our teacher even laid all three out side by side and measured our gauges. All three were correct. It is a beautiful pattern, easy to make and would be fun to wear if only I could make it big enough. I am an X-L, my friend is a Med and my cousin is XXX-L.
Love this pattern! Easy, but the marble chunky yarn creates an elegant pattern. Will make more in different colors for Christmas presents for my daughters. When they saw the one I completed for myself they wanted one too! Would highly recommend the pattern and suggested yarn.
