Sheila A
Absolutely exquisite work, only marred for me, by indifferent instructions.
There is no list of abbreviations, and I had to think hard when doing a leaf for what bl might be, before settling on 'back loop'
I'm also at a loss to understand on the flowers, how you can tighten a five chain starting ring; if that were possible, there would have been no need for the 'magic ring' to be invented
I found Lace Base 2 particularly muddling, and ended up combining the bits of the instructions I could follow, with working from the photograph and drawing on my long experience.
I realize that possibly, part of my problem may be due to the difference in American and English terminology, so I shall continue with these beautiful bookmarks, just using Lace Base 1.
Incidentally, I had no problem working with the Floss.
Finally, a couple of the ladies in my Craft Group, thought - and I did agree with them - that two layers (base plus flower) were too thick to put in a book, so I make the chain cord longer, to drape the flowers over the closed book.
