I am also not a beginner and could not follow the directions for the ghost. Ended up making a 19" place mat adding batting and finished with free motion quilting. Used the ghost pattern, I added thin batting and white backing. Turned it to create the ghost, appliqued the eyes and mouth and added the lines to create the draped effect. Then sewed the ghost to the 19" place mat. The directions for 19" mat placement are confusing and having to turn under a narrow edge around the ghost appears to leave an unsightly underside for the mat. Did not order the digital version which was also a mistake. Had to call customer service after 3 weeks to get a status on the order. No tracking for the order which is unusual. Did not try the witches hat as the same issues existed in the directions.
