I got stuck on the hood portion as well, but contacted Annie's Pattern Services and they promptly gave me some suggestions to complete the sweater. My husband helped me find the video on-line class, Learn Continental Knitting, where Lena Skvagerson teaches how-to steps on creating this sweater. Now I feel confident enough to finish it! :)

For the most part I enjoyed the pattern. I didn't like the hood portion. It needs to be more specific as to what the front neck is. The diagrams should include a picture of the hood and where you start it. Spent a lot of extra time trying to figure it out. Had to blow the picture up to about 200% to try and see how it works. Being a somewhat newer knitter, this was frustrating.
