My first afghan and I made it in grey for my 28 year old son. He absolutely loved it!!!!
Took me a while to learn to read the pattern and learn all the nuances of knitting but after
hours spent I am happy to say it actually turned out well!
One thing: I did miss read one section and developed my own pattern and it looks just fine
in the middle of the afghan. I would knit this one again, especially for a man. Will also add that my girls loved it too, so it may appear two more times in my knitting. I am new but so what if one has to learn everything at once. It was fun and very much worth the time and effort it took to see the astonished look on my son's face when he found out his mom had made it. Have fun everyone.

I believe for the money that the instructions should be written out as well as charted. It is marked Easy and I don't think a beginner knitter would know how to read the chart. The stitches are all knit/purl but not as varied as suggested. Also, it comes in a large envelope but not strengthened by even a piece of cardboard so arrived bent edges turned down.
