Well, I had a lot of problems with the directions, but after sleeping on it for a few nights, was able to figure it out. It was a lot of effort and in the end did not fit my dog. That does not however take away from how cute the sweater is. Also, the pattern pushed me to learn new things. At this point I either need to find a dog that it fits, or use it as a guide to make one that does fit.
My dog is a 9lb chihuahua terrier mix so I knew that the small pattern was going to be to big. I sized it down by determining the difference in stitches from small to medium to large and adjusting down from there. The sweater needs to be snug for the loose leg to fall correctly on the dog. My little guy was swimming in it even with the adjustments. I may try it again because it is so cute. I think for the directions, sizing guides and a 2-D diagram of the finished piece would be helpful. I got really tired of sewing in the loose ends, but maybe I just don' know how to do it, need to google that. It would be neat to figure a way to carry the yarn along instead of fastening off every color/row. I joined All Access, so I could watch the video over and over, still had problems. But as the designer says, it is for the advanced beginner who is not afraid to try new things. That's me.
