Let's start stitching! Now that you know the materials needed to embroider, and have seen how to hoop the fabric, let's start learning embroidery stitches! In this Part 3 of our Learn to Embroider series, you'll learn the basic running stitch and a variation called the whipped running stitch.

In this Learn, Make, Create! online video class brought to you by Annie's Creative Studio, needlecraft expert Linda Augsburg demonstrates how to knot the thread and how to work the running stitch. The running stitch is used for outlining, adding decorative borders, in flower stems and in many other design elements.

In this online video class, you'll learn how to:
  • Work a basic running stitch with even stitches.
  • Work a variation called the whipped running stitch in 1 or 2 colors.
  • Embroider the running stitch on fabric.
  • Accent crochet with the embroidery running stitch using size 5 pearl cotton.
